Brand Changing Day

Overview
     A book I'd define as surrealist fiction starts out a bit well different. Still the author takes you on a mellow journey that is as deep as I've read so far. The book follows a restaurant chain that goes on a brand change that somehow deeply effects some interesting characters. Plus how could you not love the cover?

Review
     I will say this book is for adventurous/non traditional readers only. It at times will make your head spin but at no times is it boring. The book seems targeted at the far out ballers who like interesting books. The plot was good but the true calling card was the amazing character development. At the core of every book is good character development. Some stories focus more on plot but I like how the characters change and mature over time. Plus the cover is amazing.

The Lead Cloak

Overview
    Erik Hanberg's science fiction read may not be a quick read, bit its a highly enjoyable one that kept me up till 3am to finish it. What makes a book that good? Well it starts off very intriguing with a good backstory to finish very climatic, unexpected, and challenging everything you hold to be morally upright.

Review
   Well I enjoyed the book because of the story telling. It used excellent literary devices and the sensory details were superb. I liked how the author takes character development and warps how you really read books. Parts in the middle could keep you down if your a hack n' slash sort of reader, but they really add to the whole experience. The entire package is clean especially the brilliant cover.

   4.8/5 An excellent science fiction novel with a great cover. Took .2 points off because it is long at 422 pages for the paperback but one of the best for the new year!

Overview
       Highly original book that well was a bit different from mainstream fiction. Portraying an upcoming business model where people post weird requests and are taken to fulfill them by takers So say the Waiters promises an exciting journey filled with well things on exciting journeys! Naturally the mere mention of an exciting journey made me jump for the paperback.

     Well let's say this original journey was.... original. It had a very unique plot and felt well written. If you like more 18+ over type fiction this would be great. The cover was great, the free kidnApping bookmarks were cute, and the story wasn't bad. I suggest getting the free first episode on Kindle to see if you would enjoy it.

   3/5 The book was good but the language obviously makes it an 18+ over book. I liked the originality, but the book wasn't in my science fiction style. Still it intrigued me and wanted me to try +Justin Sirois  other books like Falcons on the Floor. Good job Sirois!

Dr. Homebrew

Overview
       First I have to say well played. The first thing that popped up in my head when I read the last words in the novella was well played. The book had a snarky tone throughout making good use of the third person voice it employed. Dr. Homebrew (a fantastic and original idea in my humble opinion) is set in a dystopian/steampunk environment where Lake Ltd. has a monopoly on the brewery business ruling a small British town with a proverbial iron fist. Dr. Homebrew is standing up to the law providing the people with excellent beer compared to the crap Lake Ltd. makes. It incorporates Steampunk, Mystery, and science fiction quite nicely to make for a great read.

     Well a book like this doesn't appear in my e-mail everyday. The author (well actually Amber from the story e-mailed me the book) sent me a digital copy, but I decided to jump at the Kindle free promo because I prefer books in that format. Even though it wasn't on the top of my queue I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was 93 pages of secrecy, deception, business, smiles, and brewing! The characters were well put together and felt real someone you could actually imagine in real life which I enjoyed. Highly recommendable and an excellent wrap up at the end.

    5/5 Easily deserves a high rating because it was a great book. That's probably why it was the #1 free Steampunk book two days in a row and now at around #70 paid steampunk. Book looks very promising in a category that is one of my personal favorites.

Custer at the Alamo Review

Overview
       The battle of Little Big Horn and the Alamo are seperated by 40 years of tense war torn years. General Custer with his men are somehow transported back in time 40 years to the time of the Alamo. Not knowing if it was fate or just chance they decide to help out to fight the death loving Santa Anna with historical figures like Davy Crocket and Jim Bowie.

Review
      Well the book wasn't short thank God. It was long and very entertaining. The figures from what I am told comes from years of research. As a military enthusiast I was surprised at the accuracy of the military maneuvers, situations, weapons, and the characters themselves. The battles were exciting for any historical fiction fan and the book was entertaining at times. The Indian aspect was my favorite especially Spotted Eagle who always wanted coup (scalp). I'd easily recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read.

Like Mind Review

Overview
       Like Mind is a fast paced science fiction/thriller novel/novella (felt pretty short I finished it in about 2 hours) that makes big promises in a good looking package. It follows Corey and Anka on the trail to find out a lot of information in a short amount of time before they get killed. Sounds fun? Well its gets better with some really cool mind science thrown in plus some unexpected plot twists. Like Mind promises a lot and delivers on every one and provides a really good story even if it is a bit short.

      Well I was pretty surprised at first and a bit wary at reviewing this book. The plot sounded shall we say a bit different. Not something I was used to even as a science fiction author and reader. I've been broadening my horizon and to date haven't rejected a book. So I requested a paperback which incidentally came today. I decided to write a review while the plot was fresh in my mind. First thing to say is: mind = blown. A guy who somehow is a theologian has brought to life all of my fantasies of the spy world influenced by a man named Bond, Chuck Norris, and McIver. The book read like butter and to my surprise did contain some choice words a spy might use still not to warrant a complete dismissal. Spy stereotypes weren't visible and the female character role was made quite nice not a typical chica. Well done Mr. Wood I highly recommend.

    4.5/5 So good I'd give it a 5 but the cursing it does include (comes along with any spy novel granted) limits its audience to 15 and above. Still nothing real bad in it and the writing style was unique.
